When does daylight saving time end in 2013? Those who have a hard time keeping track have a bit of time yet before the big change hits, but it is right around the corner. On Oct. 23 Business Insider shared the details, along with some important suggestions those relying on their electronics will want to make note of before the changeover.
Daylight saving time ends in 2013 at 1:59 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. That is when clocks will pop back an hour, to 1:00 a.m. instead of 2:00 a.m. This is that blissful time of year when you gain an hour of sleep, or your favorite activity if you are a night owl. Though many, of course, refer to the clock-shifting as "daylight savings time" with an "s" added, technically it is simply "saving."
Most phones and computers will automatically change the clock for you. However, if you are relying on a phone alarm to get you someplace on time Sunday morning, Business Insider notes that you will want to double-check to ensure the setting to update automatically is set.
On iPhones, for example, check to see that you've chosen the right time zone and have your Date & Time settings for Set Automatically turned on. This will ensure that your iPhone switches over on its own. This is the same for Android users, who should have no issue if they've set their phones to automatically pick up their date, time and time zone. Then of course there are those in most areas of Arizona who have nothing to worry about come Nov. 3, as long as their devices know they don't observe daylight saving time.
Many bemoan the end of daylight saving time each year, as it indicates the approach of winter and earlier dark evenings. At the same time, getting that extra hour of sleep is nothing to scoff at. Come the end of daylight saving time 2013 on Nov. 3, many will be happy for that one extra hour a year that they get.
